American teen idol Miley Cyrus said on Sunday that she was embarrassed for
some racy photos which spread on the Internet and other photos including a
semi-nude one to be published in the upcoming issue of "Vanity Fair," according
to media reports.
In these racy photos, Cyrus lies across her then-boyfriend's lap, (her
producer's son), while another showed her revealing part of her green bra.
In the statement to "People," Cyrus said, "The pictures of me on the Internet
were silly, inappropriate shots. I appreciate all the support of my fans, and
hope they understand that along the way I am going to make mistakes and I am not
perfect. I never intended for any of this to happen and I am truly sorry if I
have disappointed anyone."
The semi-nude photo, in which the teen is topless and clad in just a blanket,
was took by the renowned celebrity photographer Annie Leibovitz. It will
accompany an interview with the 15-year-old pop star and her father, singer
Billy Ray Cyrus in "Vanity Fair" magazine's June edition.
The Disney Channel backed up the rising star saying in a statement "a
situation was created to deliberately manipulate a 15-year-old in order to sell
magazines."
