"The Incredible Hulk" did incredible business at box office this weekend
in the US and Canada, as the Universal picture is expected to take in estimated
US$54.5 million in its premiere, according to studio figures released yesterday.
DreamWork Animation's "Kung Fu Panda" continued strong business, with that
kids comedy selling estimated 34.3 million dollars worth of tickets over the
three-day period, and 118 million dollars in the past two weeks.
"The Happening," a Fox thriller that debuted this weekend, came in third with
US$30.5 million in projected sales.
The Adam Sandler comedy "You Don't Mess With The Zohan" slipped two spots to
fourth with US$16.4 million this weekend, while "Indiana Jones and the Kingdom
of the Crystal Skull" remains steady with US$13.5 million. The Harrison Ford
action sequel has taken in US$275.3 million since its release three weeks ago.
The top-selling 12 films in North America took in US$174.3 million
collectively this weekend, up 25 percent over the same period of last year. With
three straight weeks running well ahead of last year's comparable frames,
Hollywood's current summer season is so far so good and is expected to push
revenues even further ahead.
