The musical comedy revolves around an overweight girl from Baltimore who sports big sprayed hair. She eventually realizes her dream of becoming a dancer through painstaking efforts.

Brooklyn, who plays the lead role, said she hoped the drama would bring Chinese people hope and joy after the devastating May 12 quake.

She said she had a husky throat after performing in Shanghai for two weeks, but was excited about the Beijing show.

"We will call for the audience in Beijing to dance with us," she added.
