Chinese film festival opens in Bangladesh to celebrate Beijing Olympics

A week-long Chinese film festival for celebrating Beijing Olympic Games began in Bangladesh's capital Dhaka on Saturday.

Inaugurating the festival in Dhaka University, Acting Director of the Institute of Modern Language of Dhaka University Abdur Rahim said, "We have arranged the Chinese film festival to express our gratitude to China, which has built image of Asians through the Olympics."

Rafiqum Munir, a teacher of Dhaka University, said, "We wish to further deepen our relations with China. The film festival will help our students to learn about rich cultural heritage of China."

The week-long festival will show six Chinese films including " Grief over the Yellow River", "Beautiful Homeland", "Snapshops of China", "Spring Subway", "The Birth of Shooting Star" and "Female Coach and Male Players".

The Institute of Modern Language of Dhaka University, in collaboration with the Chinese Embassy in Bangladesh, organized the festival that will end on Aug. 15.
