"The Incredible Hulk" surpassed its predecessor with a take of 24 million
yuan (about US$3.48 million) from the opening weekend box office on the Chinese
mainland, according to its releaser.
The film comes just five years after another movie adaptation of the Marvel
Comics character, Ang Lee's "The Hulk" in 2003, which only earned about 10
million yuan on the mainland, yesterday's Beijing News reported.
The film about the super-hero, starring Edward Norton as a scientist who
hunts for a cure to the gamma radiation that poisoned his cells, opened in
Chinese cinemas last Wednesday.
The global box office of "The Incredible Hulk" has so far reached US$235
million.
