Bitney Spears is out of next week's MTV Video Music Awards (VMAs), Ryan
Seacrest reported on "On Air With Ryan Seacrest" on Monday morning.
"She did the promo for them, but there never were any plans for her to appear
on the show," a spokesman for Rudolph said.
Quoting Spears's manager, Larry Rudolph, Seacrest said, "Britney Spears will
not be performing at the VMAs this year. I'm telling you officially and
unequivocally."
The pop star shocked audiences last year with a shaky performance of her hit
song Gimme More, baring her belly and stumbling across the stage.
Spears attempted to make a comeback last year, using the 2007 VMA's as a
launch-pad. Instead her club-footed dancing and dull voice turned out to be a
professional disaster.
The MTV VMAs show is set to air in the US on 7 September.
