As their sexless marriage unraveled, and the rows turned bitter, Guy
Ritchie reportedly called Madonna "old, fat, ugly and wrinkled" during their
most heated arguments.
The film director - who announced last week he and the singer had filed for
divorce after nearly eight years of marriage - resorted to verbal abuse in
retaliation to Madonna allegedly telling him "I should have married someone like
me: strong, hot-blooded, intelligent, ambitious, spiritual."
A source close to Guy, who raises three children with Madonna, told Us Weekly
magazine: "He would call Madonna old, fat, ugly and wrinkled and said that she
was stupid and couldn't sing. Their fights would often get heated. A few times
Madonna slapped him or poked him."
It has also been claimed Madonna has offered Guy an extra¡ê5 million in their
divorce settlement if he lets her have control over his access rights to their
eight-year-old son Rocco, two-year-old adopted son David Banda and Madonna's
12-year-old daughter Lourdes from a previous relationship with dancer Carlos
Leon.
The sum would reportedly take Guy's total cash payout from¡ê15 million to¡ê20
million.
A source told website MailOnline: "Madonna has said to Guy that if
she ups the money, then would he agree to her setting out the access for the
children until they turn 18. What she is basically saying is that if Guy wants
this to go to court, she will get what she wants anyway.
"Basically she is offering a cash incentive to him to encourage an amicable
out-of-court agreement over the children. Madonna is keen to give Guy good
access to the children - but on her terms."
Meanwhile, 40-year-old Guy is said to be "in pieces" after seeing pictures of
Rocco wearing a T-shirt bearing the slogan of the New York Yankees baseball
team, who Madonna's rumoured lover Alex 'A-Rod' Rodriguez plays for.
A friend of Guy - who is currently on location in London shooting new movie
'Sherlock Holmes' - told Us Weekly magazine: "He has actually been crying over
it. He's in a terrible state but is doing his best to be on form at work.
"He said she is the 'lowest of the low' for letting Rocco wear that top and
is even more determined to fight for his side now."
