China's National Centre of Performing Arts (NCPA) announced on Tuesday
that it is going to broadcast a concert simultaneously online on November 3, for
the first time, to mark the first founding anniversary of its official website,
Chncpa.Org.
Nine popular Chinese internet portals including Sina.Com, Sohu.Com, and
QQ.Com will also make the live broadcast at the same time, said a NCPA official
at a press conference.
The national theater will webcast live more concerts such as its own New
Year's Concert, to be conducted by Sir Andrew Davis, in the future, if it is
well received this time, said the official. He said that the webcasting is aimed
to enable art fans to appreciate world-class art performances at home.
The November 3 concert will be composed of such classics like "Largo al
factotum (Make way for the factotum)", an aria from "The Barber of Seville" by
Giaocchino Rossini, and the Toreador Song from opera "Carmen" by Geoges Bizet
and George Gershwin's piano piece "Rhapsody in Blue".
Well-known Chinese singer Dai Yuqiang and violinist Lu Siqing will
participate in the concert, according to the official.
The National Centre of Performing Arts, which was designed by French
architect Paul Andreu, is one of the city's landmark buildings, with its
surrealistic style resembling an egg rising from a pond of water.
Over the past year, the national theater, equipped with Asia's largest pipe
organ, has held a series of folk music concerts, operas and other art
performances.
Moreover, its weekend musical lectures have been very popular among art
fans.
