Miss Tourism Zimbabwe Cynthia Muvirimi will leave for South Africa on
Sunday to represent the country at Miss World Finals to be held on December 13,
the state news agency New Ziana reported yesterday.
The beauty queen said she was happy with support received from the Ministry
of Environment and Tourism through ZTA.
"The support has been good and my stay at ZTA London offices promoting the
country as a tourist destination is a major highlight. I am ready for the show
and I will perform to the best of my ability," said Muvirimi.
A total of 105 countries and regions will take part in the global show which
has been moved from Ukraine to South Africa.
Categories for the show would be the Miss Beauty with a purpose award, Miss
World sports woman, Miss World Beach Beauty, Miss World talent and Miss World
fashion Top Model.
Environment and Tourism Minister Francis Nhema said her participation at the
pageant would help market Zimbabwe. "Go and lift our flag up high. We are proud
of you and the young generation should emulate what you have achieved," he said.
Zimbabwe Tourism Authority chief executive Karikoga Kaseke said the authority
had done everything to prepare the queen for the world event.
Kaseke said the authority would continue to support Muvirimi who has done so
much charitable work around the country. Muvirimi,he said, had visited several
underprivileged people in areas such as Mudzi, Mhondoro, Gweru and
Mutoko.
