One of Marilyn Monroe's last photos fetched a record price of US$146,500
at a Christie's auction, according to media reports yesterday.
The photo "The Last Sitting" by Bert Stern is one of the 36 shots that Monroe
posed for Vogue magazine in 1962, the same year she died. These photos are the
last professional images taken of the iconic actress.
The price shattered the US$63,000 mark set in 1994.
These images from the collection of Leon and Michaela Constantiner are among
more than 100 images of the Hollywood actress being offered for sale at
Christie's.
"The results confirm that Marilyn Monroe's magical appeal has proven to be
truly timeless," said Philippe Garner, Christie's international head of
photographs, in a statement.
