Spurning dreams of riches and glory, Italian youth desires good health
and a family above all else, according to a new study by the socio-economic
research institute Censis, the Italian news agency ANSA reported
yesterday. The research, carried out for the Italian Multiple Sclerosis
Association, found that over 60 percent of the surveyed put building a family
above money and career in their list of aspirations. Over 50 percent said
good health was more important than beauty, ideals and intelligence in the quest
for happiness. The survey focused on the views of 964 Italians aged between
18- 40 who had received a diagnosis of Multiple Sclerosis (MS) and 992 who had
not. Both groups put good health at the top of their list of requirements for
happiness. Those with MS said a strong will was essential while those without
were keener on economic security.
