This week we look at a serviced apartment offered by the Shanghai Center on
Nanjing Road W. The three-bedroom, two-bathroom apartment is spacious (227
square meters) and full of light and also has plenty of storage space.
The Shanghai Center has a range of apartments available, from studio sized 47
square meters to a four-bedroom, 384-square-meter penthouse. Rentals for the
apartments range between US$2,300 and US$15,000 per month (based on yearly
rental fees).
With an open living and dining area, the apartment featured has two separate
balconies which look over the terrace garden and swimming pools. All of Shanghai
Center's serviced apartments come fully furnished with twice-weekly maid service
and linen changes, satellite television, 24-hour customer and concierge service
and use of the eighth-floor grassed terrace and children's playground.
The best thing about these apartments, however, is that they come complete
with membership to the Portman Ritz Carlton's health club. This exclusive health
club has both an indoor and outdoor swimming pool, weights room, aerobics room,
indoor tennis court, squash/racquetball courts, sauna, pool tables and more.
One drawback is that the minimalist interior design makes them look quite
hotel-like and not very homely. But the muted beige tones and marble floors are
extremely adaptable and will accommodate individual tastes well.
Another great feature of the three-bedroom apartment is the walk-in
robe/storage area adjoining the second bedroom. The bathrooms are also modern
and the master bedroom ensuite features a separate shower recess and bathtub.
The apartments are not cheap but compared with many others around town they
offer excellent value for money because they are newly renovated and designed
for comfort. The Shanghai Center leases apartments over different periods and at
different prices.
Apartments can be rented nightly or for one-, three-, six- and 12-month
periods.
