The National Library of China (NLC), China's largest library, opened an ancient-book library in Beijing, offering text version of more than 2.6 million Chinese ancient classics on-line.
Readers at home and abroad can log on the NLC's website (www.nlc.gov.cn) to search for information or read the books on-line.
Apart from the 2.6 million ancient classics, the library also boasts a rich collection of rubbings of ancient bronze and stone carvings as well as documents dating back to the Western Xia Dynasty (1038-1227), which are also available to the public on-line, said a library worker.
