Chinese online hit "I Wanna Go Home, Mom and Dad" about migrant workers is
expected to end Hollywood director Mel Gibson's next movie.
Xi'an Evening News reported on Sunday that a friend of Mel Gibson, a
Chinese-American named Carrie Lee, recommended the Chinese song to Gibson for
his new movie.
The movie is adopted from a South African folk writer's novel about a South
African young man who leaves his hometown and heads to a big city, trying to
change his destiny. Years later, the young man finally achieves a great career
and becomes the mayor of that city in the end.
It was reported that Gibson thinks the lyrics of the song match the plot of
the movie, so he decided to buy the copyright to this song.
The song "Mom and Dad, I Wanna Go Home" is a simple and easy-to-follow song
written for migrant workers in China. It became a popular hit online after its
recent release.
The song's composer and lyricist, Yang Linchuan, is in discussion about the
cooperation details with Mel Gibson's production company.
Part of the song is expected to remain in Chinese when it is used in the
Hollywood movie.
