Chinese martial arts blockbusters are still the investors' favourite genre at China Film Pitch and Catch, a trade meeting at the ongoing Shanghai International Film Festival.

Some 84 film projects from home and abroad have been received and 30 film companies attended to find investment opportunities, the Chengdu Daily reported.

During a press conference on Thursday at the pitch and catch, it was announced famous opera "Turandot" will be made into a US$20 million film.

"The Lord of the Rings" actor Orlando Bloom is reportedly the preferred leading male, while Chinese actress Zhang Ziyi is rumoured to be the likely lead actress.

Crowds at the pitch and catch also learned there will be a cinema adaption of classic Chinese TV drama "Journey To The West".
