A grand orchestral concert featuring six symphony orchestras and dozens of renowned artists will be performed during the upcoming 8th Shanghai International Arts Festival, which is scheduled to be held from October 18 to November 18, 2007.

The two-day grand concert is also designed to mark the 910-day countdown of the Shanghai World Expo 2010.

It is the first time for China to organize such a large-scale concert, which is expected to involve some 1,000 artists.

Chen Zuohuang will be the musical director and conductor. Other prestigious artists also include Li Yundi - the pianist, Qin Liwei - the cellist, Huang Doudou - the dancer and Liao Changyong - the baritone.

The concert organizer promises to present a unique concert night with different art forms, hitting the audience's eyes as well as ears.

The revenue of the concert will be donated to the Shanghai Charity Foundation.
