Russell Crowe snagged the No. 1 spot as Forbes' worst earner in Hollywood, according to its Ultimate Star Payback list.

According to Forbes.com, the "Cinderella Man" couldn't turn a pumpkin into a payday for his movies from box office bucks, yet he still got paid plenty himself.

For every dollar he received for movies such as "Master & Commander" and "Cinderella Man," Crowe's films earned just US$5.

Yet his "American Gangster," which was not factored into Forbes' calculations, should bump him lower on next year's list. The movie, which cost US$100 million to make, had already earned US$173 million worldwide at the box office at the Forbes article's press time.

Nicole Kidman also appears on the list, earning about US$15 million for "The Golden Compass," which took in just US$26 million nationally and US$55 million internationally last weekend.
