"National Treasure: Book of Secrets" starring Nicolas Cage started 2008
with top box office in North America, according to media reports yesterday.
According to studio estimates issued on Tuesday, the movie sold tickets of
US$55.4 million during the five-day period beginning Dec. 28 and sold US$124
million in total.
After 12 days, "National Treasure: Book of Secrets", the biggest movie of
Cage's career, is hot on the trail of the US$173 million total of its 2004
predecessor "National Treasure."
The kids movie "Alvin and the Chipmunks" rose one place to No. 2 during the
Christmas period beginning Dec. 21 followed by the Will Smith Sci-fi thriller "I
Am Legend."
