Low price tickets for standing rooms will become a long-term plan adopted by
the National Grand Theater, to give the wider public access to high-class arts
and performances.
So far, the theater has included "standing tickets" into the box office for
three performances, the first of which was the New Year concert on January 1st.
In the morning of New Year's Day, 100 "standing tickets" for as low as 30
yuan each were sold out in 40 minutes. The tickets were so popular that it
almost caused chaos in the 500-people queue.
In order to avoid congestion and illegal ticket scalping, the theater will no
longer publicize the preferential tickets, the Beijing News cited a staff member
of the theater.
However, citizens can get the information via the booking hotline.
The National Grand Theater, just opened to the public on December 21 last
year, is now China's top arts performance center.
