Fallen teen queen Lindsay Lohan has launched a comeback by stripping down to
her birthday suit to recreate the naked last photos of Hollywood bombshell
Marilyn Monroe.
In the issue of New York magazine on sale yesterday, the troubled 21-year-old
Lohan poses nude for photographer Bert Stern in a recreation of Monroe's
legendary final photo shoot, done by the same photographer shortly before she
died in August 1962.
The "Mean Girls" star insisted she was "comfortable" with taking it all off
for the cameras -- although she confessed to doing 250 sit-ups the night before
the pictures were taken.
"I was comfortable with it... I didn't have to put much thought into it. I
mean, Bert Stern? Doing a Marilyn shoot? It's really an honour," she said.
There was also no avoiding the parallels between Monroe's tragic fate -- dead
from an accidental overdose of prescription medicines -- and that, recently, of
Heath Ledger's.
"They are both prime examples of what this industry can do to someone," said
Lohan.
The actress, who has been in and out of rehab after two arrests last year on
drunken driving and cocaine charges, said she didn't know why the industry
wreaked such havoc on some stars, adding, "I sure as hell wouldn't let it happen
to me."
Stern said he thought the photo shoot would be good for the young actress,
giving her the chance to portray herself as a grown-up.
