11/7/2008 17:26
Mongolia's annual National Naadam opened today in the central stadium of
Ulan Bator. July 11 is Mongolia's National Days. The word "Naadam" means game
or competition in Mongolian. The national Naadam usually is held during
Mongolia's National Days. Mongolian President Nambaryn Enkhbayar addressed
through TV that Mongolia's economy had developed steadily in the past year and
the economy had a good prospect. "Beijing Olympics Games will soon hold, I
hope Mongolian athletes to acquire good achievements", added the
president. The Naadam, mainly including the Three Manly Games of wrestling,
horse riding and archery is the biggest festival of the year for Mongolians. It
runs for two days in all parts of the country. This year, 512 wrestlers, more
than 200 archers and nearly 1000 horses will attend the event. The Mongolian
People's Revolutionary Party (MPRP) led the victory revolution in 1921 and
henceforth July the 11th became the National Days of Mongolia.
