Singapore yesterday launched the Festival of Ideas, a two-day event to
showcase the country's creative ideas and work.
At the festival held at a district heartland, students will try to impress
judges with their creative business ideas in a competition, while the public can
vote for their favorite idea, play digital or board games, appreciate music and
paintings, or participate in creativity workshops.
Other creative projects on show include 3D animation films and a
made-in-Singapore musical.
More than 9,000 visitors are expected at the festival organized by the
Creative Community Singapore (CCS).
"The Festival of Ideas is really an amalgamation of raw and seasoned talents
to showcase their creative ideas and work. It is also a testimony of the impact
CCS has brought to the community," said Lui Tuck Yew, Senior Minister of State
for Education and Information, Communications and the Arts, at the opening
ceremony.
The Singapore government has launched several strategic plans since 2003 to
boost its creative industries, such as Singapore Media Fusion 2015, Design
Singapore and Renaissance City Plan. Lui said these plans will boost the media,
design and arts to transform Singapore into a creative hub.
