The Shanghai Greenery Administrative Bureau is encouraging city residents to adopt not plant when China's 26th Tree-Planting Day rolls around on March 12, Shanghai Daily reported.

Residents can adopt trees in 97 parks and gardens around the city, the bureau said.

There are 19 places around the city residents can plant trees to celebrate the day, but only three of them are located in downtown, the bureau said.
