Scientists with East China Normal University have invented a nano battery which is able to convert more than 10 percent of collected sunlight into electricity, Shanghai Daily reported.

It is the highest light-electricity conversion rate achieved by domestic solar battery researchers and second only to the world record of 11 percent, university officials said. Developed by the university's nano-tech center, the battery adopted a technology that is similar to photosynthesis in plants.
