The Shanghai Water Authority yesterday kicked off a weeklong water saving campaign, including two new trials, Shanghai Daily reported.

The city took 617 steps to conserve water last year, including upgrading local toilets and urging people to recycle waste water, which reduced daily water use by nearly 100,000 tons, the authority said.
