The Baoshan District People's Court ordered a village committee to compensate 38,000 yuan to parents of a 12-year-old boy who was drowned in a river.

On October 5, 2007, the boy surnamed Zhou, who was left home alone, went to the village river with a friend surnamed Guo but an accident happened and Zhou drowned. His parents asked for compensation of more than 240,000 yuan.
