7/10/2008 11:07

Shanghai Daily news

Shanghai's renowned Waibaidu Bridge is expected to return to its original site in February.

The bridge, which spanned the Suzhou Creek along the northern Bund, was removed for repairs and to make way for major infrastructure work. Experts said restoration of the bridge's roadway and its main support piers will be finished by the end of this year. The bridge should be shipped by barge back to its original spot early next year. The bridge was built in 1907 and is one of the city's top heritage landmarks.
