Shanghai Daily news

Commuters have welcomed the first batch of bikes made available to rent at the Zhangjiang High-Tech Park Metro Station. Over the past 16 days, 30 bikes have been offered to those with a prepaid card.

"Many commuters asked to rent the bikes, especially during rush hour," said Qian Weizhong, director of the Metro station. He said the 120 yearly prepaid cards issued by Shanghai Forever Bicycle Co, which provides the bikes, were all booked up on the morning of September 22, when the rental service was first offered. About 270 more bikes will be offered for rent in early November. The scheme is a trial for what is expected to be a citywide project offering bikes for rent at Metro stations all over Shanghai.
