Changhai Hospital in Yangpu District performed surgery on a man injured by hammer debris while working in a foundry on Ningqiao Road in Pudong yesterday.

The 30-year-old man surnamed Xing was beating the hammer into shape when an iron flake chipped off and lodged in his throat. Doctors extracted the iron filing and said Xing's condition was stable yesterday.
