China's mainland universities have a tough time attracting brilliant minds to
their faculty teams due to low salaries, but help might be on the horizon.
The country's rise as a major international power should lead to a
growing wave of top intellectuals coming to China's mainland to teach and
conduct research, Zhang Wenjun, vice president of Shanghai Jiao Tong University,
said yesterday at the Third Sino-German University Presidents' Meeting in
Shanghai.
