The mother of a man who was crushed to death after being pinned between a platform safety shield and train doors on Metro Line 1 last year added two new defendants to her lawsuit on Wednesday during a trial in Xuhui District People's Court.

The mother of victim Sun Shouhan also named to the lawsuit Westinghouse Arrester (England) Co Ltd and Guangzhou Guangri Elevator Co, which jointly designed and manufactured the safety shield, bringing the number of defendants to four. The others are Shanghai Shentong Metro Shareholding Co Ltd and Shanghai Metro Operation Co.
