In the second quarter of this year, health authorities cracked down on eight
beauty parlors offering unlicensed plastic surgery and other medical treatments,
the Shanghai Health Bureau said yesterday.
Unlicensed medical treatment
is one of the main targets of a local health campaign. This year, the city has
closed 2,048 underground medical clinics, imposed fines of 2.15 million yuan
(US$313,727), confiscated 403,328 yuan of illegal income, 2,646 packages of
medicine, 17,672 medical implements, and transferred 16 cases to the police for
further investigation.
