Crowds of city residents gave a warm welcome to the return of China's famed White Rabbit milk candy after it was pulled off store shelves for weeks during the melamine scandal, Shanghai Daily reported.

The sales volume at Shanghai First Provisions Store on Nanjing Road E. alone hit 20,000 yuan (US$2,928) from 9:30am to 2:30pm yesterday, said Wang Guoxiang, the store's general manager.
