The city reported 3,832 cases of serious infectious diseases last month, the Shanghai Health Bureau announced yesterday.

The five most common diseases were syphilis, tuberculosis, gonorrhea, dysentery and viral hepatitis. At least seven people died in September due to tuberculosis, AIDS or viral hepatitis.
