A soccer gambler who stole more than 400,000 yuan (US$58,556) from his father-in-law was sentenced to seven years in prison yesterday for larceny and fraud.

Zheng Jiong, who used to have a happy family and a successful career, said soccer gambling changed his life, and he is now regrets his actions.
