Crackdown targets visual clutter
21/10/2008 10:41

Dong Zhen/Shanghai Daily news

Another several hundred billboards will be taken off highway ramps across town over the next two months as authorities step up their activities to clean up visual clutter.

The removals by the urban engineering administration are part on a campaign to streamline outdoor billboards and includes removing those near the exit and entrance ramps on the city's elevated roads. That effort is part of a larger program to improve the Shanghai's environment prior to the 2010 World Expo.
