China has the largest professional clothing industry and market in the world, yet very little research goes into maintaining standards and fashion.

To address the gap, Donghua University opened a Professional Clothing Research Institute yesterday. Researchers there will conduct a study on trends, technological innovations and cultural and psychological aspects of designing clothes for professionals. The school will also study ways to promote and market Chinese-made products.
