Shanghai residents believe marriage to be "holy" and don't really care for high-flying lifestyles, Internet romances, one-night stands or quickie divorces, according to a survey on changing social values.

The survey, conducted by the Family Study Center under the Shanghai Academy of Social Sciences, covered 1,228 people. The respondents were between 20 and 65 years and were almost equally divided between men and women. The results of the survey were published yesterday.
