More than 80 percent of Shanghai's young people have always been part of self-organized communities, although their focus of interest has changed across generations.

Youngsters born after 1990 favored communities centered around literature, music and "collection hobbies," according to a sample survey report released by the Shanghai College for Youth Administrators on Tuesday.
