City police have warned residents to look out for a telephone scam in which fraudsters pretend to call up from the Shanghai Public Security Bureau and demand "security fees."

A Zhejiang citizen surnamed Liu received a call recently from a man who claimed to be a Shanghai police officer. The man said Liu's bank account was not safe and for "security reasons" it was necessary to transfer his money to another account.
