Jing'an District People's Court sentenced Fang Yan, 34, a former deputy general manager of a state-owned company, to six-and-a-half years in prison for embezzlement and bribery.

The court said Fang had embezzled 350,000 yuan (US$51,291) of public money to buy stocks in 2007. In April 2006, he also accepted 210,000 yuan while handling two purchase projects, the court said.
