More than 600 suspects have been detained or criminally charged this year for attacking police officers, the Shanghai Public Security Bureau said yesterday.

One of the latest cases occurred on Friday when a female motorist surnamed Chen hit Li Jun, a Putuo District police officer, on Tongchuan Road after Li stopped her for driving in the wrong direction, according to city police.
