A patent auction will be organized next week to explore an innovative mechanism for intellectual property trades, the Shanghai Intellectual Property Administration said yesterday.

Eight patents, in fields such as environmental protection, biomedicine and information technology, will go on the auction block. The minimum bids range from 100,000 yuan (US$14,641) to more than 10 million yuan.
