Shanghai will redevelop stretches of the riverbank along the Huangpu River and Suzhou Creek before the 2010 World Expo to create green relaxation areas and entertainment facilities for passers-by, water authorities said, Shanghai Daily reported.

Several sections of the banks of the Huangpu River and Suzhou Creek have tested out the plan, such as along Suzhou Creek in Anting, Jiading District, and the embankment of Huangpu River in Wusong, according to the Shanghai Water Bureau.
