A man surnamed Zhu was detained for 10 days for carrying liquid nitrogen onto transit buses, the Shanghai Public Security Bureau said yesterday. On October 31, Zhu bought liquid nitrogen for his company and stored it in two normal thermos flasks.

He took a No. 32 bus on Fenglin Road Station and put the flasks near the door, the police said. One was kicked over when passengers got off at Gao'an Road, and an ensuing nitrogen leak resulted in panic. One passenger fell from the bus when people rushed off the bus.
