Shanghai Jiao Tong University opened a pool to imitate the environment of the deep ocean yesterday, which makes China the third country in the world to recreate such conditions for deep ocean projects.

The pool, measuring 50 meters in length and 10m in depth, can make waves 0.5m high. A 40m well in the middle of the pool can imitate the environment of oil exploration in 4,000m-deep waters.
