A man was sentenced to five and a half years in prison yesterday for defrauding three prostitutes working at KTV venues. Wu Yousheng, 43, a Guizhou Province native, and two accomplices, tricked women using a fortune-teller scam.

The three stole valuables worth 8,370 yuan (US$1,222) from three victims and withdrew 39,900 yuan from bank accounts using stolen cards. Two accomplices, Zhu Jun and Du Qiangui, have been detained but will be dealt with in a separate case, prosecutors said.
