A cold snap beginning tonight may be the first sign that winter is near as the temperature is expected to drop to about 0 degrees Celsius on Friday morning, the Shanghai Meteorological Bureau said.

The cold front from Siberia will also bring icy winds from the north. The temperature may even dip below zero in the suburbs on Friday morning, the bureau said.
