A student from a Southeast Asian nation was ordered to leave China for trying to get a long-term visa by pretending to be an engineer, the Shanghai Exit-Entry Administration said yesterday.

The foreigner, whose name was not released, was caught earlier this month applying for a visa extension with fake documents.
