The Jiading District People's Court sentenced Li Dongyang, an unemployed Chongqing native, to 10 months in jail for extorting money from a Tesco supermarket in the district.

In August, Li pretended to have poisoned food at the store and demanded money. The supermarket transferred 3,000 yuan (US$439) to Li, and closed its doors for several hours. Li was later arrested in Wenzhou, in Zhejiang Province.
